Certification Training: Track 3

Professional
Practioner Online

Track 3 is for anyone who is ready to begin the Professional Certification process – with the intention of providing professional services to others. With the “Online” certification, please note that you will be certified only to provide BBTRS® to individual clients on a virtual setting (NO in-person or group sessions).

This certification track begins with the online modules of the program, through which you experience the entire scope of the work – in order, as it applies to each section of the body. In addition, students in Track 3 perform 35 online practice sessions (with other students) and work individually with mentors – so as to hone your skills in sharing BBTRS® with others.

Within a specified time frame, you may change your mind and add the in-person sessions to fulfill requirements of either an Advanced Professional Practitioner or Professional Facilitator certification series.

Online Guided Modules

MODULE 1

The first of three primary educational modules provides the foundations of trauma, including the basics of how the body works when under stress. Students also learn the building blocks of the practice of BBTRS®—the 6 Elements of Breath, Movement, Touch, Emotional Expression, Sound, and Meditation—as well as key supporting ideas from leading somatic researchers.

MODULE 2

The second module, the longest of the three, is a blend of theory and practice. Theory covers the ways in which trauma impacts 7 different segments of the body (“belts” that roughly relate to the chakra system)—as well as the role of body-based psychotherapy. Practice is spent on learning hands-on techniques to support clients in a virtual space. Students learn how to run an actual session, both through instruction and through receiving sessions in exchanges with other students.

MODULE 3

The final module of the primary educational series focuses on fine-tuning skills with clients—such as language and listening skills, conducting breath sessions, and tips on how to use music and sound in sessions. The training also provides the basics of self care, how to start a holistic arts business, and how to promote yourself as a breathworker.

MODULE 4

21 Online Session Exchanges—where students give and receive a virtual BBTRS® session—are required throughout the series of modules. They provide practical experience, allow for feedback, and expose students to a variety of mini “case studies.” Some Session Exchanges are actively supported by mentors, especially in Module 2.

MODULE 5

After completing Session Exchanges with other students, 35 documented Online Practice Sessions must be completed for certification. These sessions are provided outside of the confines of the workshop setting—to friends, family, other students, or, eventually, professional clients. Any concerns or questions that develop from these sessions are welcome in Mentor Sessions and/or Q&A.

MODULE 6

9 hours of meetings with student “Buddy Pods” support the larger group sessions. Each pod supports personal growth, thanks to an assigned mentor who invites questions and personal sharing in a safe space. These sessions also provide students with a way to build relationships with other students, which can become very important as practitioners move on in their professional lives.

MODULE 7

In 4 one-on-one sessions of 60 to 90 minutes each, students receive virtual BBTRS® sessions from a mentor. Repeated experiential sessions allow students to learn more about the modality by truly understanding how it feels to receive BBTRS®. Of course, the inevitable personal growth and transformation that results from receiving BBTRS® assists a future practitioner to serve clients.

MODULE 8

After years of trainings, BBTRS® facilitators are familiar with the amazing openings and transformations that students experience while learning and experiencing the work. Sharing and Q&A sessions are held during and after each Module, and will address specific questions—as well as individual or shared experiences that move the group. Each session is unique.

Self-Study Curriculum Module

MODULE 1

Students are required to complete a 21-day meditation cycle using meditation(s) of their own choice. Benefits of this practice include developing inner space, an inner witness—which is extremely important in embracing the process of supporting other people. Meditation allows us to track felt sensations, look at the self objectively, and be present to our own experiences in non-judgmental awareness. The ability to grow the ability to be present for others is an extremely important skill for all professionals in the helping and healing arts.

MODULE 2

In this online, home-practice course, BBTRS® founder Giten Tonkov guides you on a personal journey with the Biodynamic Breathwork & Trauma Release System. You can access and experience the 7 guided sessions of 30 to 45 minutes each in two ways: Do the program once, with access for 7 days only (maximum of 5.25 hours); or do it three times in a row (15.75 hours over 21 consecutive days), and retain lifetime access to the online program.

MODULE 3

* Self-Bodywork for BBTRS® and Breathwork Practitioners
Self-bodywork is an important skill—especially when students are learning BBTRS® online—since “touch” is one of the 6 primary elements of the modality.
* Somatic Skills & Practices for Online Sessions
Knowing how to use language to guide a client is crucial when we work at a distance. It’s especially important in “somatic” work.
* Bodywork Techniques for BBTRS® – The Seven Belts of Tension
This webinar looks closely at the 7 “belts of tension” (roughly aligned with the chakras).
* Anatomy & Physiology of Breathwork
This 2-part webinar is an overview of basic anatomy & physiology that every breathwork practitioner should know to safely & effectively work with clients.
* Reichian Character Structures & Developmental Trauma
This 4-part webinar explores the psychological perspectives of Wilhelm Reich, the Western originator of the Body-Mind Psychotherapy science.
* Understanding Trauma: Our Body, Brain & Emotions
This 3-part webinar is an overview of the physical, emotional, and mental effects of trauma, informed by key field researchers of somatic trauma release.
