Cardiomyopathy

I have a potential client who has been diagnosed with cardiomyopathy?  I know I need to do a more extensive history, but is breathwork contraindicated based on this limited diagnosis?

Hi Satyarthi – That’s a tricky one to answer without knowing more information.  As cardiomyopathy can lead to rigidity in the heart muscle, shortness of breath, and chest pain I would go VERY gentle and slow with the patient and see how his body reacts.  If there is any signs of chest pain or shortness of breath during the session I would err on the side of caution and not continue breathwork.
